Appointment of President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal

The Lord Chancellor has appointed Mr Gerald Edward Barling QC to be President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal with effect from 5 November 2007.

 

Mr Barling also becomes a Justice of the High Court on this day and on his appointment as President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal he will be assigned to the Chancery Division.

Mr Barling replaces Sir Christopher Bellamy who retired as President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal in February 2007.

 

Notes:

Mr Barling (58) was called to the Bar in 1972 and was appointed Queens Counsel in 1991. He was appointed a Recorder in 1993 and is approved to sit as a deputy High Court Judge.
